Jonothan Bosworth Recruitment Specialists are supporting a new client, as they look to identify talented engineers to join a growing engineering team, based near Cheadle.
Our client is a global provider of network services including direct interconnection to all major cloud providers, remote peering, low latency high-speed point-to-point/multipoint capacity and enterprise business IP, BGP transit, and colocation to enterprises and carriers.
As the NOC Engineer you will join the operations team who are at the heart of what our client does. Dealing with customers and suppliers on a day to day basis ensuring expectations are exceeded across the board, whilst being fully exposed to a full range of technologies; such as MPLS (LDP/RSVP), IGP (BGP/OSPF) and DWDM (fibre optics) across a multitude of vendors will make up part of your role.
THE SKILLS:
Understanding of the TCP/IP stack and a basic understanding of Layer 2 and Layer 3 protocols such as 802.1Q, OSPF and BGP is what our client is looking for. If you have a basic understanding of IXP and Tier 1 providers, coupled with any exposure to both Juniper and Extreme networking equipment you are likely to receive and immediate interview request.
The ability to accurately read log output and provide information in escalation cases for the engineering and architecture teams and the abilty to utilize technical monitoring platforms such as SNMP and Netflow will hold you in good stead.

We’re looking for confident individuals who are happy to take ownership and act as a key team player – willing to support others and assist wherever necessary to achieve team goals.
Engineers with strong analytical skills; able to investigate faults to ensure quick and correct resolution, coupled with a strong customer service background, able to handle tough situations when complex network issues arise will be of interest. You should be able to manage customer communication in times of urgency and planned maintenances, supporting the customer journey.

Providing excellent communication and customer service skills, whilst proactively managing and troubleshooting all customer issues, changes, faults and queries in line with business processes is important. Ensuring incidents are kept within strict SLA timescales and acting as a central communication point between customers and other non-customer facing departments is vitally important. Helping to ensure accurate and detailed information and completing requested reports both internal and customer facing – seeking continuous improvement on both a personal and departmental operating process level will hold you in good stead.
THE SHIFT PATTERN:
Monday to Friday shift basis (08:00 : 17:00 / 16:00 : 01:00) plus on-call: shared amongst NOC team, on a rolling rota.
