Network Engineer | up to circa £65,000 | Berkshire plus Travel

They are looking for individuals who are committed and want continued development of their skills and experience, capable of delivering excellent projects and operational support.

Network Engineers with project-based skills who are also able to perform operational tasks as required, collaborate with network architects to help design and build functional networks from the ground up based on the business specific needs and are able to assist with major problems or network emergencies (Rota On-Call) will be of interest.

THE PRE-REQUISITES:

Network Engineers who can use their operational expertise of the network and feed any design related issues back into the network architects for review should apply; escalating technical issues in resolving complex technical issues where assistance is required is also important.

Individuals with solid skills around routing, switching, wireless, security and cloud, with an ability to analyse network designs and develop detailed implementation, test and rollback plans will be of interest.  Planning and liaising regarding network changes, with respect to the business change management and communication teams; installing hardware that includes switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless access points and managing upgrade software on hardware such as switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless access points is important.

Automating tasks and monitoring their effectiveness, whilst performing network modelling, analysis, and planning and assisting with technology road-maps will also make up part of your role.

THE TECHNICAL STUFF:

A CCNP certification would be the minimum requirement.

Performing on-going analysis of network and service resilience, preparing and maintaining documentation as required, and acting as an SME (where required) is vital.

Delivering complex network projects with proven experience in operationally supporting enterprise networks and using Wireshark packet capture, NETFLOW; generating network reports from monitoring tools such as SolarWinds and knowledge of routing protocols such as OSPF and BGP and of IPSLA will result in an immediate interview request.

THE TRAVEL:

Around 60% of your time will be spent at HQ in Reading and up to 40% will be spent meeting with, and consulting with client customers in areas such as South Wales, London & Peterborough.

THE INTERVIEWS:

Telephone interviews can take place as soon as Friday 21st February 2020.

Face to face interviews can take place as soon as Wednesday 26th & Thursday 27th February 2020.

THE CONCLUSION:

This is a fantastic job opportunity, for someone with good written and verbal communication skills, solid networking, security & firewall skills and a familiarity with emerging technologies such as SD-WAN, coupled with a willingness to learn cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure and Google Cloud. Exposure to technology vendors such as Cisco, FortiGate, Checkpoint Brocade, F5, Riverbeds will be highly desired, and if you can take a low-level design and create a detailed run book for the delivery of the design and work with project management, change management and customers to deliver and communicate respected changes we’d like to hear from you TODAY!
