Head of IT | London | Remote | Up to £90,000 plus bonus
We are looking for a Head of IT who’s keen to develop a career in a high-performing, dynamic executive team, by leading and owning key software, hardware, comms and data management across an investment group.
Based in and around Southeast London, combining working from home with face-to-face meetings, usually in London.
The Role:
As Head of IT, you will both manage be happy to rolling-up your sleeves to get things done, but mid-term creating scalable processes and growing the portfolio businesses towards ownership and independence.
Work with, and sometimes travel to, teams internationally to understand their needs and cultures, and to set and verify standards for IT.
You’ll become a trusted advisor and partner to the multi-discipline management teams both centrally and for each subsidiary.
Collaboratively create IT standards, balancing the need for security and process while empowering creative freedom within startup cultures, you will understand, enable, and optimise in-office, work-from-home, and fully remote distributed working models.
Research and recommend, purchase and maintain hardware and software for diverse staff roles.
Safeguard physical, IP, and digital assets including the use of backups, anti-virus, firewalls, TFA, encryption, and inventory.
Advise users at all levels on software and data workflows, empowering those with the domain expertise to use computing power appropriately.
Track budgets and advise on cost-effective IT spending, including inventory management and equipment lifecycles. Consider cloud, local server, desktop, and laptop/roaming solutions as required.
Advise on appropriate levels of desktop and software support across the group.
You will be a part of growing the company and subsidiaries, with an IT roadmap.
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
You will have a broad breadth of knowledge to include.
PC/Windows networks, with logins and identity. Cloud services, especially Google Workspaces administration
Data storage and distribution, at multiple scales and sensitivities, including backups, game-builds, video, HR/finance data.
Setting standards, including access rights, password best practices, two-factor-authentication, and SLAs.
Communicating with users at all levels, understanding requirements, setting standards, and recommending or delivering training. Version control systems (e.g. perforce, git, cloud or local servers), direct software development skills are not required.
Negotiating supply and service contracts, software, and hardware.
Managing outsourcing and local/remote staff.
